A successful entrepreneurial family with an international lifestyle is seeking a professional, discreet, and highly experienced Butler / House Manager to oversee the day-to-day running of their private household in Amsterdam. The residence is run to 5-star luxury standards and includes high-end features such as a private pool, padel court, and multiple guest areas.The family is busy with building a new residence in Laren. The family consists of Mr. and Mrs and 3 children between ages 7 and 16 years.

This role is perfect for a service-minded individual with a proactive “I’ll take care of it” mindset, who can seamlessly combine hands-on service with top-level management and PA support. This role is ideal for a service-oriented candidate with an exceptional eye for detail, strong organizational skills, and the ability to anticipate the needs of both principal and guests. You will coordinate and oversee a small household team, including housekeepers and a private chef, ensuring all aspects of the residence run seamlessly and to the highest standards at all times.

General tasks and skills that the required butler should have mastered are:

  • House management & housekeeping duties: Overseeing the household, maintaining the property in pristine condition, managing the silverware, providing turndown service, receiving guests, scheduling maintenance (including garden and pool), handling errands, managing incoming/outgoing mail, and ensuring that the refrigerator and pantry are fully stocked according to preference.
  • Budgeting and finances: Managing the household budget, tracking expenses, and preparing monthly reports.
  • Table management: Setting tables and serving meals to a high standard, including coffee, tea, and wine service, with refined table manners and knowledge of service styles.
  • Laundry and wardrobe management: Caring for fine fabrics, ironing, steaming, dry-cleaning, organizing wardrobes, and seasonal clothing rotation.
  • Cooking: Basic knowledge of hygiene and quality standards.
  • Valeting: Maintaining clothing and footwear, packing/unpacking for travel, and managing inventories.
  • Etiquette & protocol: A sound understanding of international etiquette is essential.
  • Support: Acting as a reliable right-hand and trusted confidant to the principal at all times.

The required profile:

  • Extensive experience and knowledge of the butler profession
  • Discreet, trustworthy, and loyal
  • Previous experience working in a private household
  • Excellent organizational skills; proactive and resourceful
  • Meticulous attention to detail
  • Calm, composed demeanor with a consistently professional attitude
  • A long-term commitment and loyalty to the role
  • Valid driver’s license (valid in the Netherlands)
  • Fluent in English; Dutch is a plus

The offer:

  • Full-time position (monday until friday from 7:00 - 16:00 PM)
  • Live-out arrangement
  • Start date: As soon as possible
  • Salary: €45,000 – €60,000 gross per year, depending on experience
  • 25 days per year, with additional time off when the family is traveling
  • A company car will be provided
