What is required to join our training program?

Our program welcomes students of all ages and genders as long as they have a minimum age of 18 and a working knowledge of English. Communicating and understanding English is crucial, as all lessons are conducted in this language. What's equally essential is having a service-oriented attitude and the right personality for this prestigious profession.

Huize Damiaan

The International Butler Academy is proudly housed in Huize Damiaan, a stunning 135-room estate steeped in history. Originally founded in 1892 as a monastery by followers of Saint Father Damiaan, the estate was acquired by the Academy in 2014 and underwent a full year of meticulous restoration. Reopened in 2015 by Madame Milica Lakhdar Brahimi, mother of Her Royal Highness Princess Rym Ali of Jordan, Huize Damiaan is now the largest private residence in the Netherlands.

Training in Sardinia, Italy

We believe that the art of exceptional service is best learned through both theory and hands-on experience. We are proud that our students have a unique, all-inclusive opportunity to spend one week in Sardinia, Italy, as part of our prestigious training program. In collaboration with a Hotel Business School by Forte Vilage in Sardinia, this week-long module is designed to give students practical, real-world experience in managing a private household.

The Student Uniform

The butler uniform is worn only on special occasions when working in private service. In our specific case, the uniform is an important training tool. We are pleased to provide our students with a beautiful butler uniform. Students receive many more gifts and tools from us. Check the tuition fee page for more details.

Much of the training is hands-on and includes role-playing sessions. Our students are part of many formal and informal events, including, but not limited to, formal dinners and lunches, weddings, receptions, teas, and more. The International Butler Academy receives requests to participate in several events throughout the year. Some events students participate in are truly unique. We are also pleased to support several charitable organizations and fundraising events.

Our students wear their butler uniforms with enormous pride at these events.
