It was in the year 1717 that Guillaume Thyssen started his wine trade business in the heart of the city of Maastricht. Now, 300 years later, Thiessen wine is not only an extraordinary place to purchase a beautiful bottle of wine from their wine collection, which exceeds more than 100.000 bottles, but it is also a location where clients can hold any kind of event. The wine cellar is exactly the way it was 300 years ago. It one of Maastricht's cultural treasures. Thiessen wine is passionately run by owner Marcel Mourmans (photo right).
One fun day, our students visit the historical city of Maastricht, where they spend the better part of the afternoon tasting some of the more extraordinary wines at Thiessen Wine. One of Thiessen's renowned sommeliers explains the history, taste, and heritage of these wonderful wines. Wines obviously cannot be learned from a book. The same day the students usually also enjoy a Cuban cigar at la Casa del Habano, also in Maastricht. Time permitting, dinner is enjoyed in Maastricht also. Thiessen Wine
