Butler Training

The Field Trips

Field trips increase student knowledge and understanding of a subject and add realism to the topic of study. Field trips provide an opportunity to develop and enhance a student's socialization skills. Our students go on several field trip excursions to receive valuable, on-site training in specialized areas. Our field trips enable the instructors to expand learning beyond the classroom walls into the vast community outside. Besides the obvious educational value, the field trips are a welcome break from our highly intensive training schedule.

Below is a sampling of our field trips. The examples below are mostly related to the hospitality industry. Other field trips include a full day in Maastricht as part of our Art & Culture training, whereby we visit exam performances at the Conservatory. Another field trip is a full day at the TEFAF. TEFAF is widely regarded as the world’s premier fair for fine art, antiques, and design, bringing together 7,000 years of art history under one roof.

The Kruisheren Hotel reflects Maastricht's ever-growing vocation as an international arts center. Famous for TEFAF, its fine-arts-and-antiques fair, Maastricht has an increasing number of contemporary art galleries. So not only is there a demand for the Kruisheren Hotel’s sixty luxurious rooms created out of a former 14th-century church, but the same high-brow international audience is also receptive to funky decors and furniture. The hotel is situated in the heart of the historic center. Interestingly, and proud to say, the hotel's director, Ineke van de Laak, was our etiquette trainer for over seven years. Kruisheren Hotel
