Field trips are important for many reasons. They increase student knowledge and understanding of a subject, they add realism to the topic of study and they provide an opportunity to develop and enhance a student's socialization skills. Our students go on a number of field trip excursions to receive valuable, on-site training in specialized areas. Field trips enable the instructors to expand learning beyond the walls of the classroom into the vast community outside. Besides the obvious educational value, the field trips are also a welcome break from our highly intensive training schedule. A number of professional guest instructors are also part of the training program. Please see below.
Our field trips provide our students with experiences that cannot be duplicated in a classroom environment but are nonetheless an integral part of The Academy's instruction. All costs are of course included in the tuition fee. Students may also visit a number of private homes where the resident butler informs our students of the inner workings of a multi-million-dollar home. Field trips are regular training classes and are considered a vital part of the overall curriculum. Field trips may include, but are not limited to:
This is one amazing field trip. We travel to the Champagne region in France and visit the Veuve Clicquot Estate. Not only do we tour the estate and the cellars, we taste the various wines and beautiful champagnes. We also enjoy a marvelous and luxurious meal at this estate. After a full day, we spend the night in Reims. Further details here.

Students learn about the Art of the Cigar from owner and CEO Mr. Reza Valibalouch. Like with all of our trainers and guest speakers, you will enjoy the passion that Mr. Valibalouch has for his products. Students enjoy learning from him, and together with Mr. Valibalouch, many students try one of the many excellent Cuban cigars that are displayed in the store. Of course, you don't need to smoke a cigar if you don't want to, but you will still need to learn the many aspects of cigar handling. Further details here.

One of Thiessen's renowned sommeliers explains the history, taste, and heritage of these wonderful wines. Wines obviously cannot be learned from a book. The same day the students usually also enjoy a Cuban cigar at la Casa del Habano, also in Maastricht. Time permitting, dinner is enjoyed in Maastricht also. Further details here.
