The Crest of Slot Zeist - at the Front Gate

Dear Prospective Student,

When I finally decided to attend a butler school, I conducted extensive research over a two year period.  I looked into a number of schools, corresponding with their staffs, looking into their references and even visiting (where feasible).  I finally settled on The International Butler Academy (TIBA) and almost a year later I still believe that it is one of the best investments I have ever made.  I urge any prospective student to do as I did.  Look at a number of schools.  Compare the instructors, curriculum, length and quality of instruction.  You will not find a finer school.

The cornerstone of the entire course is the quality of its instructors, and TIBA’s instructors are simply top-notch. They are all seasoned professional butlers and well-respected educators.  Each is a well known figure in the field of personal service as well as a very successful (and highly sought after) trainer in their country of origin.  The net result is a body of instructors who insist on the highest professional standards and are capable of teaching students to achieve those same standards. TIBA has brought together the best of the best to form a training team which has a level of credibility and, as a group, a diversity which I don’t believe any other school can match.

I recommend that any perspective butling student examine TIBA’s curriculum.  Short of an apprenticeship, it is difficult to imagine a more thorough body of instruction.  Training takes the form of theory and practical application, lecture and hands-on practice.  Although the range of subjects is daunting, a broad array of techniques is employed to ensure that each student quickly and effectively absorbs the material.

Very little time is wasted at TIBA.  Eight weeks flies by very quickly.  In order to ensure the most productive expenditure of that time and to enable students to absorb the professionalism and personal disciplines essential to success, TIBA uses every opportunity for training.  Time outside the class room is spent in mastering the practical applications which classroom instruction can only touch upon.  Students take turns serving as head butler, under butler and assistant chef, coordinate the field trips, oversee the daily rituals necessary to running the classroom, do research, watch instructional videos, and maintain their uniforms and rooms to inspection standards.  The days are long and the pace can be grueling.  The result, however, is a volume and intensity of training which transforms instruction into personal excellence.

Practical experience is critical to successful training.  Our class served private meals twice daily.  In addition to these more private functions we also arranged and served other formal functions including dinners, wedding receptions, a film festival and even a polo match.  The contribution that these events made to the students’ levels of confidence and breadth of experience can not be over estimated.

This is not merely training on how to do the things butlers do; this is a comprehensive, immersive course on how to be a butler.  We lived the life of a butler from the first morning through graduation, all day, every day.  We arrived as six students and left as six gentlemen butlers with knowledge, skills, poise and confidence.  I am a butler. I am proud to be a TIBA graduate.  If you are serious about entering this profession, or require further education, start here.

Sincerely,
