The International Butler Academy is proud to offer selected students a number of professional Internships.  These Internships are a rare opportunity to gain supervised practical experience for an advanced student with the drive and dedication to pursue a successful career in butling, household, estate & hotel management.

Internships - An example

Spend between 3 and 7 months at one of Palm Beach' (Florida, USA) finest and largest estates under the guidance and direction of a full staff of seasoned professionals.

Internship - Palm Springs

You will have the rare opportunity to utilize all the hands on skills and knowledge you have learned during your 8 weeks at The International Butler Academy as well as your life experience to gain first hand expertise in all the daily graces.

In addition to working in a superb home, you will be working for one of our most respectful clients.  They are excellent employers who genuinely care for those in their employ.

The family and their staff, estate manager, butler, personal assistant, housekeepers, laundress, houseman, grounds keepers, maintenance and security men, will take a personal interest in your success and instruct and guide you to the highest possible levels.  Although most large estates are formal, the atmosphere is mostly understated and friendly.

Burj Al Arab

The International Butler Academy is affiliated with a number of top luxury hotels around the world. 

You will be expected to conduct yourself as a consummate professional and have regular exposure to the principals as well as high level guests.

Another rare Internship opportunity is as butler at the Dutch Ambassador's residence in London, England.

In general, clients and their staff expect;

  • Dedication, honesty, sincerity and a team spirit,
  • Average 5 ½ days per week,
  • Adhere to the policies and procedures of the household or hotel,
  • Confidentiality agreement,
  • A service oriented attitude,
  • Be responsible to, and primarily directed by the Estate or Hotel Manager.

Clients and their staff provide;

  • Mentoring and a continuation of education,
  • Housing,
  • Meals on duty,
  • Uniforms,
  • Letter of reference,
  • Salary,
  • Reimbursement of airfare.

The International Butler Academy will assist and guide graduates throughout the Internship.  We are pleased that we can offer those students, who graduate with "Distinction", an internship.  Some internships are for three months (with travel expenses, room & board plus pocket money), while others are for six to eight months (with travel expenses, room & board plus full salary).  Note that an internship is not a guarantee as it depends on the suitability of the student as well as the availability of the internship.
