Scloss Vollrads

The Rheingau with only 2940 hectares (7261 acres) of vineyard is among the smallest of Germany’s winegrowing regions, but thanks to its favorable location, the high quality of its wine and its great tradition of winemaking, the Rheingau is one of the most renowned wine-growing regions of the world.

The history of Riesling is a history of winegrowing in the Rheingau. Although vines were cultivated here in Roman times, it was under the influence of the Archbishops of Mainz (10th - 14th century) that viticulture really flourished. This field trip is a wonderful opportunity for our students to learn about wines and wine-making.

Depending on the overall schedule, there is good chance that students spend the night at this magnificent location.
